Training on Modern Technologies on Horticulture

Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL) a national level organization working for agri-based livelihood promotion has conducted a training program on 29th August 2025 focusing on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture” at Lefunga Block, Mohanpur Sub-Division, West Tripura. The initiative was supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, Nagaland under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India. BKSL and CIH are putting efforts to strengthen the overall farming skills of the farmers by adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming, value addition at local level and exploring alternate markets for better price realization.

In the training program, 50 farmers participated from Lefunga Block with the action plan to implement the new learnings in their field. The farmers basically grow Paddy, Scented Lemon, pineapple, orange, banana and seasonal vegetables. Farmers Producer Company Limited (FPO) is supporting these farmers to aggregate the produce for bulk selling.

Mr. Khokon Roy, Retired Deputy Director, Horticulture, Government of Tripura and Mr. Bijan Chowdhury, Retired Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Government of Tripura, were present as resource persons. This training will help farmers and FPOs in achieving improved productivity, better price realization and sustainable development goals.
